Hi there, this is Gabriella. In this video, we’ll discuss how to optimize your Google My Business (GMB) profile to rank in the ‘Three Pack’ on Google Maps.
The first step is to ensure your best keyword is in your primary category. Why? Because the primary category is a top ranking factor for Google Maps. To determine which category to use, check which ones your competitors are using.
For this, you can install tools like GMB Everywhere or GMB Crush. While GMB Crush is excellent, I find that its free version doesn’t always show the categories, so I prefer GMB Everywhere.
Next, head over to Google Maps and search for your business type, for example, ‘dentists.’ Ignore the ads and focus on the first organic listing. You’ll see categories like ‘Dentist,’ ‘Cosmetic Dentist,’ ‘Dental Implants,’ etc. The primary category is usually listed first.
Check how many reviews each listing has. A high number of reviews doesn’t necessarily mean you need the same to rank; it’s more about having the right primary category. If dental implants are your main service, consider making that your primary category.
